New and Used, French and American Oak
First Bottling August, 2016
The grapes for the 2015 Syrah were harvested from Aug. 28 - Sept. 9, 2015 and averaged 27.8 degrees brix. All of the must was fermented for 7-9 days on the skin, pressed and the resulting wine finished fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After clarification, the wine was aged on French and American oak for approximately 6 months.
Our 2015 McManis Family Vineyards Syrah shows aromas of bright ripe blackberry with cherries and currants with a subtle bouquet of vanilla oak and toffee. The wine is medium purple in color with a youthful hue. At bottling, the wine showed dark berry fruit flavors and finishes rich and round with subtle notes of toasty oak and a lingering finish.
